Potomac Institute for Policy Studies Chairman and CEO Michael Swetnam is an intelligence and national security expert. In a recent segment on C-SPAN's Washington Journal, he offered analysis of President Obama's choice of CIA Director Leon Panetta to assume the Secretary of Defense position, as well as the selection of Gen. David Petraeus to take Panetta's former job at the CIA. Swetnam says Panetta is a seasoned manager who may ultimately preside over significant cost-cutting efforts at the Pentagon. Dr. Tawfik Hamid is the Chair for the Study of Islamic Radicalism at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies.  He writes and lectures frequently on ways to combat radicalization within Islam. Potomac Institute for Policy Studies Senior Fellow Amb. David Smith, (Ret.), is the Director of the Georgian Security Analysis Center in Tbilisi, Georgia. In a recent issue of the Georgian publication Tabula, he writes about a disturbing rise in cyber attacks against Russian bloggers and journalists who are critical of their government.  Writes Smith, "Many fingers point to some bit of the Russian government, operating through Nashi, the Kremlin's cadre of youthful brownshirts, apparently increasingly indistinguishable from cyber criminal syndicates."
