Potomac Institute for Policy Studies Senior Fellow RADM Edward Masso, USN (Ret.) says a reported cyberattack against RSA, the manufacturer of the SecurID system used by several federal government agencies, is a wake-up call for the government and employees. He commented on the breach to the technology news website NextGov, saying such an attack "affects all critical infrastructures and consumer confidence." SecurID is currently used by the Pentagon, the Transportation Security Administration, the State Department, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Census Bureau, among other agencies. Potomac Institute for Policy Studies Senior Fellow Amb. David Smith, (Ret.), directs the Georgian Security Analysis Center in Tbilisi, Georgia. In a recent issue of the Georgian publication Tabula, he writes about Vice President Biden's recent trip to Russia and the administration's "reset" policy regarding US-Russian relations. Amb. Smith argues the results of US-Russian efforts to work together have been "anemic." Moreover, he argues, the "reset" policy ultimately fails to address key areas of divergence in US and Russian interests, papering over important differences with statements that the two nations can "agree to disagree." Smith (Ret.) will address the 76th Rose - Roth Seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, "Fitting the Caucasus into a Global Framework: Georgian Perspectives and International Stakes," in Tbilisi, Georgia, March 23 - 25. The seminar will be attended by members of 24 parliaments of NATO member states and associate states, diplomats, NGOs and aother experts. Amb.
