USMC Returning Commander Speaker Series:
The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies' Center for Adaptation and Innovation (CAI) regularly hosts Navy and Marine Corps Commanders returning from deployments to share the highlights of their deployment. The next event will feature the Commanding Officer of the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Crisis Response - Africa (SPMAGTF-CR-AF).
SPMAGTF-CR-AF is composed of 1,800 Marines and sailors, as is part of the DoD continuing effort to improve the United States' crisis response capability around the world. SPMAGTF-CR-AF Rotation 15.2 recently completed a 6 month deployment from July 26, 2015 to January 26, 2016. During its deployment, the unit conducted a range of operations and activities in support of AFRICOM and EUCOM including, cooperative security validation exercises, 62 bilateral training exercises in USAFRICOM and USEUCOM areas of operation, and 17 theater security cooperation engagements in 10 African countries.
