Senior Research Fellow Jamie Barnett is currently serving under an IPA agreement as Chief, Public Safety & Homeland Security Bureau, for the Federal Communications Commission. In an interview with Signal magazine, he talked about the FCC's effort to develop a next-generation Emergency Alert System to succeed the old broadcast system, an effort he is leading. “We want to get alerts to mobile devices, smartphones, whatever technology that is adopted by the consumer, we want to get them an alert,” he says.
